WORK FOLDER SETUP

SETUP:

Make a WORK folder somewhere on your computer...

How about DESKTOP >> CODE >> BBC_GAMES >> WORK.



In WORK folder put some of these, as you require them:



 Images Folder

 Prototype Folder

 Backup Folder

 Archive Folder (with game sub-folders)

 Shortcut to this site

 Shortcut to your own forumotion site

 Shortcut to your BBC test area

 MakeNew.bat (create one or more .. see tut)


 
 Whatever else you need!

BLANK.DAT is a Notepad empty file, so I

can put any text in and save locally.



Otherwise I have to include the path

(click, click, click, oops, back, click

.. ad nausium) if I open Notepad directly,

or go and find where Notepad put it otherwise.



Always save under a new name, and

BLANK.DAT

will be there next time you need it.

HOW TO MAKE A NEW DESKTOP FOLDER:

1: RIGHT-CLICK A BLANK SPOT ON DESKTOP

2: LEFT-CLICK 'NEW'

3: LEFT-CLICK 'FOLDER'

4: (CAN DO SAME THING INSIDE ANOTHER FOLDER)





HOW TO RENAME THE FOLDER:

1: RIGHT-CLICK THE FOLDER

2: LEFT-CLICK 'RENAME'

3: TYPE NEW NAME





HOW TO CHANGE ICON ON FOLDER:

1: RIGHT-CLICK THE FOLDER

2: LEFT-CLICK 'PROPERTIES' AT BOTTOM

3: LEFT-CLICK 'CUSTOMIZE'

4: LEFT-CLICK 'CHANGE ICON'

5A: SOME ICONS IN 'SYSTEM32' APPEAR

5B: ... OR YOU CAN GO TO YOUR OWN COLLECTION WITH 'BROWSE'

6: LEFT-CLICK AN ICON, THEN 'OK'

7: LEFT-CLICK 'APPLY', THEN 'OK'

8: SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO REFRESH SCREEN WITH RIGHT-CLICK 'REFRESH'





ICONS:

YOU CAN GET ICONS ONLINE AND PUT THEM IN 'C:/ICONS' OR OTHER FOLDER.



TO MAKE YOUR OWN ICON:

FREE 'IRFANVIEW' CAN MAKE THEM AND/OR EDIT THEM.

GO TO START>>CONTROL PANEL>>SYSTEM TO CHECK FOR 64BIT OR 32BIT

OPERATING SYSTEM, AND GET THAT VERSION OF IRFANVIEW.

1: DOWNLOAD FREE IRFANVIEW ... PSP 7 CANNOT MAKE .ICO

2: GET ANY PHOTO OR OTHER IMAGE.

3: RESIZE, CROP, PUT BORDER, TEXT, BRIGHTNESS, ETC. ON PIC.

   (MAKE IT SQUARE, OR IT WILL BE DEFORMED). I USE 64X64@72DPI

4: SAVE AS WINDOWS ICO

5: ALPHA LEVEL CAN BE INCLUDED.

6: SAVE IT, NAME IT, AND DROP IT IN ICONS FOLDER.
